Chests of drawers

Very large antique pine chest of drawers; haberdasher's or draper's shop counter; kitchen dresser base etc, made around 1900 probably. Four big, deep drawers with original long brass and hardwood handles, each with little wheels set into the runners, and more inside the frame, for heavy loads (one wheel missing). Plinth around the base (we've added this, in old timber, as the original was missing). Long pine top with thick moulded oak trim. One end of the unit is panelled while the other is more basic; presumably was made to go against a wall. We've put a new back of tongue and groove cladding on it. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's good and solid and the drawers work fine. We've tightened up any loose joints on the drawers and frame. There's a repair to the top left of the frame (see pics) and the left end has a gap between the boards, but doesn't move. Cosmetically there are plenty of scuffs, marks and dings though nothing horrid. Old screw holes in the top. Currently this piece has no finish on it: wax would look good but you might want to oil or varnish it for water resistance; any wax would make that difficult. We're happy to wax it if required (it'll darken the colour somewhat). Dimensions: 184cm x 62cm x 82cm high
